Message 8: There are many existing solutions to some of the known challenges of climate change that can be scaled up. These include improved soil and water management practices, better climate information services, and greater access to agricultural resources among women. Our most important challenge, as farmers and as supporters, is not to invent new practices and approaches, but to share what already works as widely as possible to create global change for the better.
This section includes farmers’ quotes in support of key message 8. The quotes will be in text, sound or video format.
“Most farmers are being affected by climate change so we need more training at community level. We need to implement new technologies in agriculture at a grassroots level and show farmers how they can use these technologies to tackle climate change.”
Alice Kachere, Smallholder farmer, Malawi
“Farmer education is very important to try and help them understand the variability in the seasons and the need to adopt technologies that can mitigate against climate change.”
Dyborn Chibonga, Chief Executive Officer of The National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi (NASFAM)
