Karen Marshall is a principal scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the interim deputy director of the CGIAR Sustainable Animal and Aquatic Foods program. She has been based in Kenya for the last 18 years. Karen is passionate about transforming animal and aquatic food systems to meet the rising demand for animal and aquatic foods in a sustainable manner.  She has worked on strengthening many livestock based systems in Africa and Asia, using a demand-driven and systems-based thinking approach.
